Born on March 19, 1947. A son of a pioneer in the field of Homoeopathic practice and education. After doing B.Sc., passed LL.B. Examination in the year 1969. Passed Pleader’s Survey Examination in 1973. Was enrolled as an Advocate on 25.2.1971 and practised in the Howrah District Court for six years in Civil and Criminal matters. Joined WBCS (Judicial) on 25.4.1977. Was promoted to the WBHJS in 1996 and was posted as Chief Judicial Magistrate, Birbhum, on 17.1.1996. Worked as District & Sessions Judge, Burdwan, from 8.2.2002 to 7.6.2003. Worked as the Registrar in the Circuit Bench of the High Court at Calcutta, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, from 20.9.2003 to 18.12.2004. Thereafter worked as Registrar (Vigilance & Protocol) in the High Court at Calcutta from 20.12.2004. Was elevated to the Bench of the High Court at Calcutta as a permanent Judge on June 22, 2006.
