M.Com., LL.B - Born on 22nd January, 1939. Passed M.Com. and LL.B examination from Calcutta University and secured the second position in the LL.B. examination after having secured the first position in the LL.B. Intermediate examination. Selected for specialised training by the Government of India and the Government of Japan in "Administration of Justice" at the United Nations Asia and Far East Institute in Tokyo from September to December 1979, and awarded Certificate of Merit. Functioned as Under Secretary in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, New Delhi, and as under Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Law, Justice and Company Affairs, Department of Justice, New Delhi. Appointed as District and Sessions Judge, Midnapore and Hooghly. Appointed as a Judge of the Calcutta High Court on 24th February, 1999
